Ice Scheduling

Return of Ice
Please return all ice that you will not use.

  • If you do not have a league game scheduled during your game ice time, do not keep the ice time for an extra practice. If the Ice Scheduler cannot use the ice time for a game, the ice time it will be returned to you.
  • If you have an away game on the same day as your practice and you are not using the practice ice time, then you need to return that ice to the Ice Scheduler.
  • As soon as you receive your PCAHA schedule, it is your responsibility to identify ice you cannot use. Please return the ice to the Ice Scheduler immediately.
  • A minimum of 72 hours notice is required for all other ice returns. Exceptional circumstances do allow for less than 72 hours notice, but in all cases, you are asked to return ice ASAP.
  • When ice is returned with 24 hours or less notice, if the Ice Scheduler is not able to find another user and, if it is your team's second offense, your team will be invoiced for the ice time. Under exceptional situations only, the Ice Scheduler may waive this policy.
  • When practice ice is returned due to conflicts with games, the Ice Scheduler is NOT required to replace the ice but will attempt to even if it's a shared ice.  Note: it is unlikely to be within the same week.

No Shows
Teams who not show up for their game ice or practice ice will be give one warning. Any subsequent (no-show÷ will mean your team will be invoiced for the ice time.

Replacing Lost Ice
During the season, there are a few occasions when ice is lost due to tournaments. When your team loses an ice session as a result of a tournament, only game ice will be replaced. The Ice Scheduler will contact you with replacement times and on most occasions the games will still be played on the original scheduled date but at a different rink/time.

If there is enough ice to replace some practice times, the Ice Scheduler will have two teams share the same ice.

From time to time, other unforeseeable situations occur such as power failures. Should this happen, only game ice will be replaced. The Ice Scheduler will contact you with a replacement time.

Conflict Games
For a game designated as a conflict by PCAHA, the home team is responsible for rescheduling the game. Contact the Ice Scheduler ASAP. She will assist you to resolve your conflict.

Rep Teams - Scheduled Extra Ice
As part of the Rep fee, Rep teams are entitled to one additional practice slot every week. The additional practice slot can be on a weekday at 6 a.m. or at 7 a.m. on weekends. Please contact the Ice Scheduler to arrange for this ice. Please note: the full Rep fee is charged whether this ice is used by the team or not.

Atom and PeeWee Rep teams are expected to use early morning ice. Atom and PeeWee Rep teams that do not, will not be given priority for prime time extra ice.

Extra a.m. slots are available for Bantam and Midget Rep teams but teams are not required to use the early morning ice. Please let the Ice Scheduler know what additional days your team would like to practice and the ice scheduler will try to arrange additional times when possible.

Purchasing Extra Ice
If you wish to purchase ice directly from the rink, please contact the rink directly and ensure that you inform the Ice Scheduler for insurance purposes.

Early Morning Ice
Extra ice is always available at 6 a.m. on weekdays and also on weekends. Please let the Ice Scheduler know if you are interested in an extra time.
