"Everyone should have the same opportunity, and in many areas that's not the case because programs are built around the elite."

Bobby Orr

Richmond Minor Hockey Association is dedicated to providing each and every one of our players with ample opportunities to participate, learn, grow, and have fun through the game of hockey.  It is extremely important that in the early stages of athlete development the focus is on fundamental skills, these fundamental skills are to be taught early & often. Skating, puckhandling, passing, and shooting are the fundamental skills required to play the game of hockey.

That is why our registration fees include Skill Development sessions (in addition to games and practices) for our players.

At our  Skills Development sessions, our professional development coaches isolate these fundamental skills by breaking them down into component pieces.  Starting with the most essential technical hockey skill (skating), our coaches work with our players, creating a solid technical foundation for all hockey players, Novice (H2-H4) through Midget.

For our goalies (from Hockey 2 - Midget), our all-inclusive registration fee includes twenty specialized Goalie Development sessions per season (in addition to team practices).

For most of our skaters (from Hockey 2 - Midget), our all-inclusive registration fee includes twenty Skills Development sessions per season (in addition to team practices).  For our Bantam "C" and Midget "C" players, we have responded to their specific objectives and we have adjusted our program.

RMHA Development Coaches provide creative drill progressions that are specifically designed to develop our players' technical skills, individual tactics and understanding of concepts.  Infused with High Speed, Repetition, and High Energy, these drills are all designed to be both challenging, and fun. During some of these sessions, participants may be divided into groups and train at specific stations on the ice.  Each station will include a multi-tasking drills and progression (for example puck protection and individual battles, puck support, timing, etc.). All multi-tasking drills will have a core focus on skating, puckhandling, passing, and shooting.
